Social Justice Day at Huron Heights Secondary School

At Huron Heights Secondary School in Newmarket, Ontario there exists a wonderful group of young people known as the Social Justice Club. I was invited recently to attend their annual Social Justice Day as a speaker on behalf of ABCD.

There were many inspiring workshops for the students to attend and I had a full house of 20 students in each of my two workshops. I requested to be located in a computer lab so the students could learn all about the work of ABCD by getting a tour of the website.

This was followed by an art-making activity whereby the students created large postcards to be sent to ABCD children. The students chose an ABCD child and wrote a message to that child on one side of the postcard and made a drawing on the other side. These cards should be on their way to Tanzania as I write.

It was a real honour to work with such socially conscious and inspiring young people.
