Our most recent library installation is at Kitowo/Napaku Primary School. ABCD funded the renovation of a very run down classroom as well as the building of furniture by local tradesmen, and purchase of textbooks. Our team this year also brought along a lot of picture reading books to add to this library. The children carried the books into the room, and the Head Teachers with children were thrilled to receive this new learning resource centre.
At Kiunguni/Komalyangoe Primary School, where ABCD installed a library 3 years ago were very happy to see a ledger recording a lot of activity by students AND teachers borrowing books from the library.
At Komela Primary School library, also installed 3 years ago, the Head Teacher was proud to show us how her library is cared for and used by the students. Library time is slotted into the daily schedule for all students.
At Mlang’a Secondary School, the room which ABCD funded as a library/book room, is destined to become also a computer facility. Mr. Mhadisa, the Headmaster was proud to show it to us and to present to us a Certificate of Appreciation for the support to his school.
It is our goal to install a library in all of the primary schools of Marangu West and our next targeted school is Nduweni Primary School where the Head Teacher has already chosen a classroom for renovation and conversion into a library.
