Bulletin #1 from Africa!

Our team has arrived in Tanzania after two long flights…probably 24 hours of travelling including airport time. We were picked up by Sebastian and arrived at our hotel in Moshi about midnight to finally get some sorely needed sleep.

We woke up seeing our first view of Mount Kilimanjaro from the hotel windows and hearing the hustle and bustle of this busy little city. Our two days in Moshi were busy: picking up school supplies, personal care items, bottled water, shopping for local crafts for future fundraisers, food shopping and a few other stops. Coffee breaks with delicious local coffee, lunches at Coffee Tree Hotel and Kili Lounge, and dinner with ABCD Director John and Stella his wife at the IndoItaliano restaurant. Volunteers Jackie and Susan are getting great taste of East African culture during our time in Moshi!

We left Moshi in the afternoon of our second day and headed up into the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro to the Sekao Kilimanjaro Lodge in Marangu West where it’s not as hot and humid as the city and the pace of life is not so hectic. Stay tuned!
