Tumaini Deo Msechu
14 years old

Tumaini is a clever boy who dreams of becoming an engineer one day. His birthday is February 27, 1997. He lives with his parents Cecilia and Deo and 6 siblings.

Tumaini’s father is unable to work because of poor health. Cecilia earns some income from operating a fruit stand at the local market and raising goats.

Tumaini is now in his first year of secondary school. He is enrolled at Marangu Secondary School in Form 1. In his last year of primary school Tumaini stood at the top of his class! Therefore he was awarded a dictionary at the ABCD Art Day Awards ceremony. Tumaini drew wonderful pictures of Mount Kilimanjaro and a house surrounded by steps.
