We are a Canadian charity that raises funds to help children in rural Tanzania to stay in school and complete their education (Canadian Charitable Registration no. 84438 5021 RR0001)

Haven’t blogged for a while as we’ve been so busy with lots of things…here’s a sampling… Preparing tax return for CRA January 30 — Yesterday was a stay-home day to plan and prepare for Art Day. This morning we got up early to hang up signs on the lawn and set out 47 bags of school supplies, gifts, and art kits alphabetically. The cook and his assistant mamas were preparing the food which included rice, vegetables, potatoes [...] What a wonderful evening October 23 was! Despite the heavy rain, we had almost 150 guests come out to Madsen’s Greenhouse Banquet in Newmarket for dinner, silent auction and entertainment. There’s so many people to thank for the success of this event that it’s impossible to know where to start…so I’ll just extend a huge thank [...] Every Thursday from 3 pm to 7 pm my son Adam and his partner Blythe bring their jars of organic preserves, pickles, jams, veggies to the Organic Farmer’s Market at Dufferin Grove Park in the west end of Toronto. They sell these delicious home-made products, made with veggies they have grown themselves, as part of their new [...] ABCD: Art Building Children’s Dreams now has a CD of wonderful original music with which we can raise more funds for the children. It’s called NYIMBO ZA WATOTO (Songs for the Children). The coordination of the massive effort to do this work was done by a good friend of mine, Graham Fife, a music lover and generous [...] For the second year running we were happy to be invited to set up a display at Mindcamp, a creativity conference held annually in September just north of Toronto. During the 4 days of Mindcamp we met many interesting people who had great questions, comments and ideas. What better place to share ideas about developing ABCD: Art [...] The young woman who cuts my hair at Wincuts in Newmarket, Kristina, has been a supporter of ABCD: Art Building Children’s Dreams for a while now. She came up with a very cool idea for fundraising. At her wedding reception on September 19, instead of bonboniere’s (wedding favours) at the guest’s tables, were beautiful cards showing [...] It’s been a long time since our last post but it’s also been a very busy summer of planning and consolidation…the next series of posts should cover all these exciting developments. For now we’re anticipating with excitement our upcoming dinner and silent auction called Arts and Hearts for the Children of Kilimanjaro. Two hundred guests will be [...] This post is a bit late as we are waiting for some press coverage of the ceremonial thank you from ABCD: Art Building Children’s Dreams to some students at Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School in Markham. We can’t wait though, we’re thrilled to announce on our blog another very successful school fundraising campaign which finished just [...] As result of a presentation which was given by Frank to some classes at Middlefield Collegiate Institute a short while back, today, Lynn and Frank met with two students and their teacher, at Middlefield Collegiate Institute in Markham, Ontario to accept some funds that the students raised for our children! The students names are Fatema, Muyly [...] |
