We left Moshi in the landrover loaded up with the children’s supplies and our luggage and were driven 1.5 hours to our hotel, up in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Sekao Kilimanjaro Lodge. Joseph has arranged for our rooms and meals at this comfortable and conveniently located hotel near the homes and schools [...] After a long flight, made longer by an unexpected 4 hour stopover in Nairobi due to a leak in the washroom water system on the plane, we arrived at Kilimanjaro Airport at 1 am in the morning! Then braved the line up for visas and customs. Joseph was there waiting and gave us a warm [...] Frank and I have returned to Canada, Frank on January 30th and myself on Feb. 7th. My report on my last week in Tanzania begins on a Sunday, with the sorting of school uniforms and supplies. Our children had been advised to come that Sunday afternoon to Joseph’s home to pick up their school uniform [...] We’ve been unable to post for a couple of days due to power cuts at the hospital. The hospital has it’s own back up generator but our residence doesn’t. Also had no water for a long time so we were almost ready to head for Moshi early but finally water came back on line.
