First days…Moshi…orientation in Marangu

The first day of arrival was in Moshi and it was so hot, and busy for us that I didn’t even have time to get my camera clicking!

We hit the currency exchange, post office, arranged and picked up orders of school supplies, soap, skin cream. We also had to do a big shopping for food as we are cooking for ourselves on this trip. Also met with the safari operator to finalize plans for Jan and Cori’s safari.

Finally headed out of busy Moshi for the uphill drive into the beautiful and lush foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro into our community of Marangu West. Arrived at our
Rents accommodation and met our gracious hosts Noel and Mary. Their lovely home will be our home for the next few weeks.

Next day, led by Sebastian, off we set for an orientation tour of the area and Jan and Cori were overwhelmed by the warmth shown by the local people. We visited the school where they will be working, the local church and the river valley. We also had time to entertain some guests at our new home!
